Borough President Gale A. Brewer, Department of City Planning, and Council Member Margaret Chin would like to thank everyone who attended the first public meeting of the SoHo/NoHo Planning Process on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.
We apologize for being unprepared for the tremendous turnout—over 250 people attended. We’ll do better for the next meeting in February. But because of that turnout, we obtained a significant amount of feedback on where our planning process should start and what the community wants us to focus on.
Attendees contributed 211 written comments, 109 “locations of interest” pinned on maps, and 94 responses to our charts set up on easels.
Staff and our moderator from Pratt, Jonathan Martin, are digesting all the feedback—which will inform the process and future public meetings.
To be clear, the intent of the Soho/Noho planning process is to collaborate with all those who care about the challenges our neighborhoods face, and the purpose of our public meetings is to gather ideas and input well before pen is put to paper and proposals are created.
Please visit www.SohoNohoPlan.nyc to learn more about the process. And please continue to communicate your experiences living, working, or visiting SoHo and share your thoughts and ideas by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org, using the website’s contact form, and the online engagement tool.
We promise to read every item!
In advance of our next meeting on Thursday, February 28, 2019, we will send out the meeting topic, format, and other details by Monday, February 25, 2019.
