Friends, It’s Monday, so there’s a weekend’s worth of news to catch up on. Including the fact that last night, Sam from NYCHA’s Douglass Houses (the amazing 20-year-old singer who I told you about last week) made it to the next round on American Idol! There’s some movement toward closing some streets to cars to enhance recreational space and social distancing– especially since parks are so crowded (and nevermind… Read more

The Governor has also announced he will issue an executive order directing non-essential businesses to implement work-from-home policies effective this Friday, March 20. Businesses that rely on in-office personnel must… Read more

Friends, In times like these we need some lightheartedness. Frederick Douglass Houses (and NYCHA) resident Samantha (Sam) Diaz, 20, appeared on American Idol last night. Watch it here: Meanwhile, here’s today’s USEFUL news… TODAY at 6 pm, the City will issue a test alert to EVERYONE’S cell phone to try out a way of notifying city residents to “shelter in place” and not travel except for food and… Read more

Weekly COVID newsletter (3/16)

Monday’s news… These are difficult times. Coping with the unknown is never easy, but with the risk of serious illness or death for those who catch the COVID-19 virus, the stakes are high. Perhaps the most important thing to understand is that we’re all in this together, dealing with situations that none of us — in government, business or our private lives — have ever faced before. A little kindness… Read more
