I commend the decision by the NYC Board of Elections to limit the number of languages on ballots to three. This will allow for a more readable ballot for all New Yorkers, while preserving language options for voters who prefer a non-English ballot. While this does not diminish the need to pass comprehensive ballot redesign at the State level, the NYC Board of Elections should be congratulated for their work to improve ballots by working within the parameters of the Election Law. I look forward to working with good government groups, language advocates, and the Board of Elections to educate voters about these changes before the next Election.
