Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA), the only national nonprofit organization solely dedicated to serving the nearly 2 million adults living with congenital heart disease (CHD), is delighted to announce the 2024 New York City Walk for 1 in 100. Named in honor of the approximately one in every 100 individuals diagnosed with a heart defect, this family-friendly walk and fundraising event aims to raise awareness and support for those affected by CHD.
The event will take place on Sunday, September 22 at Brooklyn Bridge Park – Pier 6 in Brooklyn. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. and opening ceremonies will take place at 10 a.m. This year’s fundraising goal is $45,000, which will be used to help fund patient education and advocacy efforts, scientific research, community outreach and awareness, and managing an accreditation program to elevate care standards nationwide.
“We are excited to again bring ACHA’s premier fundraising event to New York City, as we also continue to increase knowledge of the specialized care that those born with heart defects need throughout their lifetimes,” said ACHA President and CEO Mark Roeder. “We are thankful to our medical partners and the local CHD community for their past support and look forward to a very successful and fun day!”
