Employment Opportunities,
Internships & Volunteering

The Manhattan Borough President’s Office seeks talented individuals to become part of our team. Prospective employees, interns and volunteers must be committed to improving the quality of life for all Manhattanites by seeking out new and better ways for the MBPO to connect with, and deliver for our borough’s diverse neighborhoods, communities and constituents.

Employees, interns and volunteers gain public service experience in a wide variety of professional areas including public policy, communications, constituent services, law, land use, social work, administration, special events planning and community relations.

Please note, prospective employees must apply for positions on the NYC Careers website using the corresponding Job ID# AND email their cover letter and resume in a PDF or Word document to resumes@manhattanbp.nyc.gov with the job title in the subject line.

Each semester, the Manhattan Borough President’s office hosts a dozen+ undergraduate and graduate college students to learn the ins and outs of city government. An intern will be placed in a part of the office—Policy, Land Use, Budget, Law, Communications, Community Affairs, or Constituent Services—that’s compatible with the student’s ability, experience, and interest. Weekly seminars will be presented by staff professionals to offer interns additional opportunities to learn. Prospective interns must be committed to connecting with and delivering for Manhattan’s diverse neighborhoods, communities, and constituents. Candidates should submit resumes and cover letters to Paola Liriano, Internship Coordinator, at pliriano@manhattanbp.nyc.gov.

The Manhattan Borough President’s Office has a presence at public events throughout Manhattan year round, but with the warm weather approaching, there is an even greater need for volunteers to staff tables at outdoor events like street fairs and housing development family days. It can be a lot of fun, and since Borough President Brewer strives to attend every street fair and family day, your help in distributing information and listening to constituents will be much appreciated. Please email Penelope Cox, Special Events Coordinator, at pcox@manhattanbp.nyc.gov to become a volunteer.
