I’m excited to announce that my office is hosting a tech demonstration by NYC Mesh.
As you know, I have advocated for net neutrality and consumer data protection since my time on the City Council. Far too often, we have seen large internet service providers (ISPs) collect consumer data only to sell it for a profit or lose it in a preventable security breach.
NYC Mesh’s mission is to create an open, resilient, and neutral network that is accessible and affordable to all New Yorkers. It is a community owned internet service which doesn’t steal your data. Their network can provide high-speed internet access that competes with any of the large ISPs, and they only ask for a recommended donation of $20 a month to keep the network running.
I invite everyone to take a closer look at the mesh network technology on display at my 1 Centre Street office.
