The Two Bridges Youth Farmers Market offers residents of Two Bridges, Chinatown, the Lower East Side and Lower Manhattan an attractive and convenient farmers market for buying high-quality fresh produce direct from NY farmers every Sunday from late May to mid-December.
The market is located at the Hamilton-Madison House Community Center and accepts NYS Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) Coupons from WIC and Senior participants, credit credit & debit cards and cash. It welcomes SNAP participants and matches SNAP EBT purchases up to $10 per day with an equal amount of NYC Health Bucks redeemable for more healthy produce. Nutrition education classes on selecting and preparing seasonal fresh produce are offered hourly each Sunday by NYC Dept. of Health’s Stellar Markets multi-lingual educators.
All participants receive $4 in NYC Health Bucks that can be spent immediately at the market.
Now in its third year of operation, the farmers market is operated by a team of teenage youth participating in the Hamilton-Madison House’s LIFT (Local Initiative Fostering Togetherness) Youth Development Program. The market is a cooperative project of Hamilton-Madison House, the nonprofit Fulton Stall Market at the South Street Seaport and Norwich Meadows Farm in Norwich, New York. If there is heavy rain, or on very cold days in late fall, the market is held indoors in the Community Center. Come visit the Youth Market for the freshest in local produce while supporting our youth and local farmers and building community resilience in Two Bridges.
