“CFU, which represents around 950 full-time faculty members, began striking at 11 a.m. Monday after more than a year of negotiating with NYU’s lawyers. Union members, student organizers and local politicians — including Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal and former City Comptroller Brad Lander — picketed outside the Paulson Center both days, chanting and holding signs in support of CFU.
On Friday, the union also received a letter of support from over 65 New York City Council Members highlighting NYU’s obligation to treat its union workers with “dignity.” Three days later, CFU announced that the Teamsters — a union for drivers like UPS and Amazon — agreed to discontinue all deliveries to NYU buildings while the union is picketing.”
