New York City and CUNY officials, educators, students and faculty gathered at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), just one block from Ground Zero, remembering lives lost, heroics and celebrating resilience.

BMCC President Dr. Anthony E. Munroe at BMCC’s building at 199 Chambers St. at a 25th 9/11 memorial on Sept. 10  talked about “one of the darkest days in history” that many in the room remember, while younger students read about.

“For many, today is memory,” he said. “Our responsibility is to bridge that distance to ensure that future generations understand not only the facts of what occurred, but the humanity and the enduring lessons of service, compassion and resilience that emerge from tragedy.”
