MORE LOVE NOW Art Exhibit

April 4 to May 3

24 W 120th St, New York, NY

Heath Gallery is pleased to present “MORE LOVE NOW,” featuring artist Debbie Taylor-Kerman.The exhibition will run from April 4 to May 3, 2025, with an opening reception on Friday, April 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM coinciding with the artist’s 60th birthday. This is her first solo exhibition.

The Scottish-born artist, who has called Harlem home since 2006, is an abstract figurative painter.Through bold, vibrant compositions, Taylor-Kerman creates a visual manifesto for unity and inclusion. Her work deliberately champions diversity by highlighting the beauty in our cultural differences and our interconnectedness. Each piece in the exhibition serves as both a celebration of individual identity and a powerful statement on the transformative potential of acceptance and love in a divided world.

Grieved by the current targeting of marginalized communities, particularly immigrants and transgender people,, Taylor-Kerman draws inspiration from Native American and Indian traditions that honor diversity of identity and the concept of “third gender people.” Her work also explores personal reinvention, the strength of women and female friendships and the beauty of traditional cultural clothing.

“I deliberately use bright colors in my work  as a defiant act of joy and hope to counterpoint the current darkness,” states Taylor-Kerman. “I hope guests will look at my work and see a wall of love.”

Taylor-Kerman, who first arrived in New York in 1991 for what was intended to be a brief stint as a textile designer, built a successful career in commercial licensing art. In 1997, she founded her own company that created designs for products ranging from fabric and stationery to ornaments and wall decor before embracing fine art. The loss of her father to COVID in 2020, alongside the collective pain and social upheaval following George Floyd’s murder, fueled a creative reawakening that has lead to her new and current creative  direction.

Taylor-Kerman holds a BA from the Liverpool School of Art and credits the Creative Visionary Program [Nicholas Wilton] with being instrumental in her artistic development.Currently represented by Globe Fine Art in Santa Fe, NM and Dean Street Fine Art Gallery in Tampa, FL, Taylor-Kerman’s work can be found in private collections throughout the United States and around the world.

We invite you to visit MORE LOVE NOW and experience Taylor-Kerman’s clarion call toward a more compassionate and accepting society, in which we attempt to see the world through other’s eyes, especially now.
