Art on the Ave NYC‘s Black History Month exhibition which has just been installed at the New York State Supreme Courthouse at 60 Center Street is on view through Feb 28th.
The work of 15 NYC artists is on display and open to the public daily from 9am to 3pm.
Titled ‘Labor and Love,’ the exhibition represents in figurative and abstract ways, across a wide range of mediums, immeasurable examples of service and labor that African-Americans have demonstrated over the years in the building of a nation. From Shanequa Benitez’s “We Can Dance Too” ballerinas to the artists, politicians, barbers, construction workers, paperboys and the policeman, each piece in this Courthouse Rotunda is an homage to service worth appreciating.
