Newsletter: Our first 100 days

Today is my 100th day serving as your Manhattan Borough President. It’s been a whirlwind three months. I could not be prouder of what we have accomplished thus far. I stepped into the Borough President’s office at One Centre Street at a moment of enormous challenges for our city, with the Omicron wave at its peak. January saw our city hit by tragedy again and again–including the horrible murders of Michele Go and Officers Mora and Rivera.New Yorkers have come together in the face of these challenges, and we have made real progress towards the comeback we so desperately need after the difficult past two years. Restaurants are bustling, Broadway is coming back, and subway ridership is slowly increasing. But we have much more work to do for our borough and city. And I remain laser-focused on the many challenges ahead: keeping New Yorkers safe amidst the BA.2 wave, protecting vulnerable tenants, creating more affordable housing, fixing our broken mental health system, making our transit system safer and more reliable, tackling the scourge of hate crimes, supporting struggling small businesses, making our city greener and more resilient.
