IMPORTANT NOTES REGARDING THIS EVENT 

Public Hearing Logistics 

  • Speaker sign-up begins at 1:30pm and is first come, first served.
  • You must be present in person to sign up to speak. Individuals may not register for others.
  • Each speaker will receive a number and be called in chronological order. If you are not present when your number is called, you will forfeit your turn.
  • Each speaker has two minutes to speak.
  • There may be a wait before your speaker number is called. If you leave the venue, re-entry is not guaranteed.
  • Sign-ups will be capped at 160 speakers. A waitlist will be maintained for additional speakers to sign up depending on the time and pace of the event. This will be determined by the event team in real time. If you are on the waitlist, please remain patiently near the sign-up table.
  • If you are attending only to observe, you do not need to register or sign up.
  • If you already had the opportunity to speak at the first public hearing, please do not sign up to speak at the second public hearing.  

Venue Capacity 

  • Due to the time and space limitations of the venue, attendance will be closely monitored and capped when at capacity.
  • Entry to the event may need to be slowed or restricted.
  • The event team is in full awareness and control of speaker sign-up and entry into the auditorium.

Decorum 

  • Disruptions will not be tolerated.
  • This hearing will adopt a no tolerance policy for rudeness, disrespect, and disruptive behavior.
  • Anyone who is loud, heckling, and/or using offensive, threatening, or obscene language or behavior will be removed from the event.
  • Attendees must be respectful of the Scandinavia House venue, patrons, and staff.

Equipment and Visual Aids 

  • Signs and flyers, in support or opposition of the project, are not allowed in the auditorium.

Additional Information 

  • The CAC has requested that the Applicant give a 30-minute presentation. The topic of the presentation will be selected by the CAC.
  • Public hearings are not venues for members of the public to ask questions of the Committee members or the Applicant. Hearings are strictly for Committee members to hear and receive comments on the project proposal.
  • There is no vote at this event. Members of the public do not vote as part of the Community Advisory Committee process.

All emailed and mailed comments will be recorded and reviewed by Committee members in full. Comments may be posted on the Freedom Plaza Community Advisory Committee website.

Public hearings will be livestreamed, recorded, and posted online soon after the event concludes. The recording will contain closed captioning.

All comments – spoken, emailed, and written – will be documented and given equal review and weight by Committee members.

Community Advisory Committees must complete their work by September 30, 2025. Those wishing to submit comments are advised to do so with adequate time for Committee review and consideration.
